Kevin Cohen
Prior to co-founding DoubleMan Media, Mr. Cohen most recently served as senior vice president of strategic planning for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), where he was responsible for Turner's corporate strategy, corporate development, and new technology strategic planning.
In this capacity, Mr. Cohen oversaw the creation of Turner's merger and acquisition strategy, its mobile and interactive/enhanced TV strategy and the strategy that led to the successful launch of Peachtree TV. In addition, Mr. Cohen oversaw the creation of Turner's digital strategy delivered by the CEO to the Time Warner Board of Directors.
Previously, Cohen served as senior vice president business development and general manager of interactive and enhanced television, where he was responsible for developing and managing all of the company's interactive and enhanced television efforts; partnering with the networks in Turner's interactive TV product creation and design; developing external vendor partnerships; and managing all of Turner's interactive TV distribution affiliate relationships. Cohen also was responsible for Turner's broadband and mobile licensing / distribution business domestically, establishing business relationships with Real Networks, AOL, RoadRunner, Synacor, AT&T, Verizon, Qualcomm and many others. Cohen also created and managed Turner's VOD business, successfully launching CNN, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Adult Swim and TCM VOD services with Comcast, Time Warner Cable and others.
Previously, he served as vice president, business development, new media for Turner International Asia Pacific Ltd., where he managed Turner's interactive business development in Asia. He was responsible for developing new broadband interactive properties, including regional/local language versions of CNN Interactive in Japan and Taiwan and exploring strategic new media partnerships and equity investments. Cohen was responsible for overseeing the creation and launch of AsiaNow, the joint broadband destination partnership with Time Asia, Asiaweek, and CNN.com. Cohen also oversaw Turner's mobile licensing revenue streams throughout the region, establishing relationships with major regional carriers in Japan, Hong Kong and Korea.
In addition to interactive responsibilities, Cohen was responsible for Turner's network distribution business in Japan and Korea, including P&L responsibility for Turner International Japan, Inc. While overseeing the CNN International distribution business in North Asia he also helped engineer Turner's equity investment in the Korean animation channel Tooniverse and served on the Tooniverse board of directors. He also played a key role in planning, implementing and launching Cartoon Network Japan in 1997 and served on the network's management committee.
Cohen joined TBS, Inc., in 1996 as director of business development, responsible for identifying new business opportunities and leveraging CNN Interactive content across new distribution platforms. Prior to joining Turner, he served as administrator for the Asia Pacific Policy Center. From 1988 to 1991, Cohen worked with the story departments of 20th Century Fox Films Corp. and MGM/UA and assisted in the development of United Artists' films from 1986 to 1988.
Cohen is a Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude graduate of Bowdoin College with a bachelor of arts degree in government and legal studies and has a master of science degree in business administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
